17.09.2014 NCSP Group Cargo Turnover in January-August 2014 Reached 90 mln tonnes

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (NCSP Group or the Group) (LSE: NCSP, Moscow Exchange: NMTP) announces that its consolidated cargo turnover in January-August 2014 amounted to 90.3 million tonnes.

Liquid cargo turnover comprised 71.2 mln tonnes; bulk cargo totaled 7.3 mln tonnes; general cargo amounted to 8.0 mln tonnes, and container turnover reached 3.8 mln tonnes or 455.4 thousand TEU.


PJSC NCSP CEO Sultan Batov commented on Group’s operating results for January-August 2014: «Our key operational achievement in August is bringing grain handling up to 985 thousand tons a month, which is a record volume since the beginning of the year, and speaks of strong import potential of the 2014 harvest. Coal dynamics remained positive, as growth rates accelerated by 11 percent points to 24.7% year-on-year. Ferrous metals and timber volumes were also growing at a quickening pace, and the lag in iron ore and fertilizers continued to shorten».


Liquid Cargo


In January-August of 2014 NCSP Group loaded 71 156 thousand tonnes of liquid cargo, including 51 182 thousand tonnes of crude oil; 19 259 thousand tonnes of oil products; 482 thousand tonnes and 232 thousand tonnes of liquid fertilizers and seed oils respectively.

Oil products volumes exceeded these of same period last year by 2 047 thousand tonnes or 11.9%; UAN volumes grew 17.8% year on year accelerating by 2.8 percent points versus seven months of 2014; and seed oils volumes showed maximum growth with 108.5% year-on-year.


Bulk Cargo


Handling of bulk cargo totaled 7 293 thousand tonnes in January-August 2014. Of these grain accounted for 4 074 thousand tonnes; iron ore comprised 1 210 thousand tonnes; sugar totaled 768 thousand tonnes; coal amounted to 763 thousand tonnes, and fertilizers comprised 448 thousand tonnes.

In August NCSP Group loaded 985 thousand tonnes of grain which is a record monthly volume since the beginning of 2014. In year-on-year terms grain volumes increased by 2 475 thousand tonnes or 154.7%.

Thanks to attractive ruble pricing and growing demand for Russian coal, as well as rerouting of some exports from the Baltic to Balck sea coal volumes increased by 151 thousand tonnes or 24.7% year-on-year, and growth rate accelerated by 10.9 percent points from that of the seven months 2014.


General Cargo


General cargo volumes in January-August 2014 increased by 879 thousand tonnes or 12.3% year-on-year and totaled 8 045 thousand tonnes, while growth rate accelerated by 2.7 percent point versus January-July.

Of these ferrous metals comprised 6 580 thousand tonnes, non-ferrous metals accounted for 677 thousand tonnes, timber totaled 430 thousand tonnes, perishable and other cargo amounted to 211 and 145 thousand tonnes respectively.

Volumes of ferrous metal and pig iron increased by 755 thousand tonnes or 13.0% year-on-year, while growth rate improved by 2.6 percent point from that of the seven months of 2014.

Timber handling was up 38.1% year-on-year, and growth rate sped by 6.1 percent points thanks to revived economic activity in most of the destination countries.

The Group’s Ro-Ro terminal at Novorossiysk Shipyard is performing well with automobiles’ traffic increasing four times year-on-year up to 4 391 cars in eight months 2014.


Containers


NCSP Group’s container traffic in January-August 2014 comprised 3 753 thousand tonnes or 455.4 thousand TEU which exceeds that of same period last year by 15.8% and 9.6% respectively.
